Senior Electronics Design Engineer

About the Role

We are currently advertising two similar roles; however, the roles differ based on your years of experience as well as your technical skills. For the Senior Electronics Engineer role, you will have more responsibility in making some technical decisions and expectations around your ability to deliver them through self-motivation and drive.

As a Senior Electronics Design Engineer, you will be primarily responsible for PCB layout, creating and maintaining circuit diagrams, creating bills of materials, testing circuits, and generally supporting the design, release, and maintenance process of PCBs and products.

Our Engineering Team consists of over a dozen individuals with varied skillset specialties who work hard and take great pride in what they do.

Reporting to our experienced Team Lead Electronics Engineer, you will be in a full-time role with flexible working hours based at our office in Bentley.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Comprehensive electronic design, involving a mix of analog processing, digital and high-speed buses, and multiple power domains
  • High density PCB layout: 0402 components, multi-layers, with mix of analog, high speed digital, and DCDC convertors
    • Particular attention to robustness and reliability for rugged environments.
  • Work with DFM feedback from board houses and assemblers
  • Understand and comply with Motium design processes
    • Documentation – requirements, design, test reports, ECNs
    • Peer review
    • Following Motium engineering procedures
  • Liaising with internal/external stakeholders
    • Work with Product Designers to ensure that designs meet product requirements
    • Liaise with engineers, other professionals, as well as clients to ensure quality projects are completed to specifications
    • Assist the production team with diagnosing manufacturing issues, tooling, and testing/fixtures
  • Testing and Prototyping
    • Write test plans for new PCBAs designs
    • Bring up prototype PCBAs to validate functions of new designs
    • Work with Verification Team in integration testing of designs in completed products
    • Work with Compliance Team in establishing and monitoring performance of electronics to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and safety standards

About You

Here are some of the things we think will make you likely to succeed in this role:

  • A tertiary qualification in Electronic Engineering or similar discipline
  • 8+ years’ experience in an electronics design engineering role
  • Experience with Altium Designer or equivalent EDA package
  • Experience working with various teams to finalise designs: Software/Firmware, Mechanical, Compliance, Production
  • Exposure and experience working towards high-reliability and robustness
    • Standards such as IEC 61000, MIL-STD-810, IPC-610 etc.
    • Automotive standards such as ISO-7637 etc.Experience working with stakeholders in design realisation
  • Effective written, verbal, and listening skills
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver projects
  • Great circuit design skills and solid ability to create associated design documentation
  • Good PCB Layout skills, including multi-layered, impedance controlled and high-density designs
  • Experience with designing in a formal design process, and understand the value of peer review
  • An understanding of the importance of Component Engineering, and the component selection process
  • Ability to work in an organised and logical manner to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated commitment and a positive attitude toward quality
  • Brilliant problem-solving skills and ability to provide tailored solutions
  • Ability to work well in a high-feedback team environment
