Product Manager, Cables Manufacturing

About the Role

We are seeking a Cables Product Manager to join our team to manage the growing cables business unit.  You will be reporting to the Product Manager.

This includes responsibilities for:

Cable Assembly Design

  • Working with customer and Motium engineers to define connector pin assignments, wiring routing, conduits (where required), etc
  • Understanding customer’s requirements during new cable design process
  • Understand what it takes to design and manufacture high-quality cable assemblies
  • Lead connector and cable selection

 

Cable Sales Support

  • Supporting sales department in understanding and project managing customer custom cable requirements

 

Cable Documentation

  • Produce high-quality cable assembly drawings
  • Documenting the cable assembly process

 

Cable Product Management

  • Understand the industrial design aspects of cable assemblies:  function vs form
  • Review and approve cable assembly drawings for release
  • Provide cost estimates of cable assemblies to allow sales staff to quote customers
  • Lead cross functional teams to ensure ongoing supply reliability, product revenue, product margins and marketing support

 

Cable Compliance

  • Qualification, testing, and compliance of cable assemblies

 

Cable Production Lead

  • Technical input into cable assembly manufacturing capability:  You will have an understanding of efficient cable assembly process, the overmolding process, and tool selection for automating the assembly process

 

About You

To be successful in this role you will have a deep technical understanding with strong communication and project management skills, have a high attention to detail and be passionate about your work and delivering results under pressure. You will also:

  • Have a minimum of two years cable assembly design and manufacturing experience
  • Have a customer-focused, service mindset, and are capable of customer-facing dialog and translation
  • Are commercially minded.  Able to deliver results
  • Are IPC 620 certified.  We can provide this training if required
  • Have high attention to detail
  • Have good project management skills
  • Have good written and verbal communication skills
  • Are able to prioritise competing requirements.  Understanding strategic and tactical trade-offs
  • Are an innovative thinker who can overcome challenges and solve problems
  • Able to document processes

  • Sound working knowledge and a strong commitment to quality

Software Engineer

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a C# .NET Software Engineer to join our Engineering Team. The primary responsibility of this role is to develop connected web services (TCP IP/UDP and RESTful) applications that primarily talk to embedded software (firmware) devices such as IOT. In addition, preference will be shown to applicants who can demonstrate a sound understanding and/or experience in developing C/C++ code for Windows or Linux.

You will:

  • Design and develop cross platform desktop, web and server applications using .NET Core for Windows and Linux.
  • Develop C/C++ requiring critical performance as required.
  • Implement software to meet product requirements and specifications.
  • Produce design and user documentation to company standards.
  • Develop unit tests and assist in developing automated test scripts using .NET tools and Python.
  • Research new software features and capabilities.
  • Provide software support to internal departments such as Production and Service.
  • Work under the guidance of our Senior Firmware and Software Engineer.

 

About You

Junior Electronics Engineer

About the Role

We now have a new and exciting opportunity for a Junior Electronics Engineer to join our growing design team and assist in the growth of Motium’s successful suite of products. This role will see you being involved in the design, development, documenting, testing and maintenance of electronic parts and boards used in products developed by Motium.

For the right applicant, there are significant additional opportunities in Motium, for hardware and software development, including working with Windows Embedded, Linux, and Android, and to develop system software.

  • Experience and/ or understanding of designing PCB’s;

  • Demonstrated commitment and a positive attitude toward quality;
  • Effective written, verbal and listening skills;
  • Brilliant at problem solving and ability to provide tailored solutions;
  • Solid ability to create documented processes;

  • Ability to work well in a high feedback team environment.

 

The following will be highly desirable:

  • Experience working in electronics or similar industry;
  • Practical experience in an electronics engineering role;
  • Experience using engineering design software such as Altium Designer or similar;

  • Experience in an ISO9000 environment; and

Software Testing:

Electro-Mechanical Assembler

We are looking to add a number of Electro-Mechanical Assemblers to join our Production team. Whilst this is a casual position, Motium has an immediate requirement for up to 40 hours a week work. There are also future opportunities for full-time employment for the right individuals.

The Role 

Your primary responsibility is the assembly and testing of a range of sub-assemblies and products. Quality of work is of utmost importance and the successful candidate will hold quality assurance in the highest regard. You will work on a range of different products, depending on production needs and you will be required to have the following:

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good manual dexterity
  • The ability to follow formal procedures and work instructions
  • Work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Excellent organisation skills and ability to work towards planned production targets.
  • Self motivated and work under minimal supervision

The following will be highly regarded:

  • Electronics assembly and / or mechanical assembly experience
  • Good problem solving skills
